This is a complimentary one-hour video or phone call to learn more about you, your family, and your goals. We review your current situation and goals to clarify whether advice-only financial planning aligns with your needs. In order to do this, I will ask a number of open-ended questions about your financial life and goals. After that call, I encourage you to discuss with your family to make sure this important decision is right for you. We will only move forward with the financial planning process if you are comfortable.
We review a financial planning agreement that defines the specific areas for your planning needs, our respective responsibilities, and my simple, clear and transparent fees. This letter is signed by both of us along with payment of 1/2 of the planning fee. The process will cover at a minimum three (3) months.
In order to make sure I can compile the most accurate and complete plan for your financial future, I must understand where you are now financially. Your information is compiled and organized using a confidential, secure online portal. Also, you will begin to create your Statement of Financial Purpose (SFP). A SFP is a personally designed phrase to ground your family's wealth and financial decision-making in a sense of purpose aligning with your values.
During this video call, we review your financial information for accuracy and completeness. We also reconfirm your personal financial objectives outlined in your one or two sentence Statement of Financial Purpose (SFP). The SFP helps me to focus on what is important to your family and helps you make financial decisions in a world of shiny objects and distractions. We also mutually define our assumptions and identify specific actionable advice that I will deliver to you.
Your financial information is thoroughly analyzed, through guided by your Statement of Financial Purpose, to develop strategies that help meet your goals that align with your values. This analysis is meant to be both educational and provide an actionable plan. The robust planning presentation and financial planning document are created to help show you the areas to focus on in the short, medium and longer term.
Your completed plan is reviewed during our final one or two planning meetings. This will be both educational and recommendation oriented. You will gain a full understanding of your current financial situation and learn how to implement your plan. During the plan presentation, you are encouraged to ask questions to give you confidence as you implement the recommendations. The remaining balance of my fee is due at that time.
After plan delivery, I will follow up with you to see how you are doing over the next month. Even the best plan is worthless if left unused. I will keep in touch with you to see if you need any assistance or have questions. You also have the option but no obligation to refine your plan with me in the future. Having a financial planner in your corner can help you achieve your goals as your life changes.
